Please explain the differences between: a key, a note, scale and a chord (in guitar theory).?

When you sing do-ray-me-fa-so-la-ti-do that’s a major scale. The starting note of that scale would be your key. When you combine 3 or more notes in that scale, you form chords.
There are specific “recipes” to create those chords. If you were to put numbers to the notes in the scale: do=1 ray=2 me=3 etc, some of the recipes would look like this:
major chord = 1 – 3 – 5
minor chord = 1 – 3b – 5
seventh chord = 1 – 3 – 5 – 7b
When you are playing a song in a particular key, in general the chords will all correspond to the notes in the scale. Let’s look at the G scale:(G-A-B-C-D-E-F#-G) A song in the key of G will have most of it’s chords centered around notes in the G scale. Most commonly you’ll see songs based on the chords G-C-D with an occasional Em, Am, or Bm.
There are many notes on a guitar. The key you are in will determine the scale. The scale will determine the notes. Combining notes from the scale creates chords.
