What is the best way for an ADD kid to teach himself to play guitar?
I really want to learn the guitar, but I cannot afford lessons. I am capable of teaching myself how to play and I can read music fluently also. Should I find a beginners book and go from there following it, or are there books with self-teaching lessons?
P.S.: In case it helps, I am more interested in playing classic rock style music such as Guns n’ Roses, Aerosmith, and Journey.

I was asked why my ADD would affect my abilities, so here it is. It isn’t totally my ADD’s fault, but I have, not really in a strong sense, an addiction to video games, and playing video games sort of soothes a constant nagging. I have tried to keep at self teaching before, but I eventually quit. If that doesn’t make sense to you, i’m sorry and don’t bother with this message. (FYI: along with ADD, I have incredible inteligence and a large vocabulary, so that is why this might not make sense.)

There are plenty of beginner books and DVDs available at your local music stores. The best, easiest and fastest way to learn is with lessons so if you can save up some money then try to do that. In the meantime try the resources listed here
